First, find out where the problem is
Ask two questions. Does it happen on every channel or just one? And does it happen on every device or just one? One channel freezing on every device points to that channel; tell your provider. Every channel freezing on one device points to that device or its connection, which the fixes below solve.
1. Test your speed on the device itself
Run a speed test on the TV or stick, not your phone. On a Firestick, the free Analiti app from the Appstore works, or open fast.com in the Silk browser. You want roughly 10 Mbps for HD, 15 Mbps for Full HD and 25 Mbps for 4K, per screen. If two TVs are watching, double it.
2. Use a cable or the 5 GHz Wi-Fi band
Wi-Fi is the number one cause of freezing. If your router shows two networks, connect to the one marked 5G or 5 GHz; it is faster and less crowded. Better still, use an Ethernet cable. Firesticks need a small Ethernet adapter, which costs little and fixes most problems.
3. Restart the router and the device
Unplug both for 30 seconds. Routers and streaming sticks that run for weeks build up memory problems that a restart clears.
4. Move the router or the stick
A Firestick behind a TV is surrounded by metal. Use the HDMI extender that comes in the box to move it a few centimetres away, and keep the router out of cupboards and away from microwaves.
5. Clear the app's cache
On Firestick: Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications → choose your IPTV app → Clear cache. Do not choose Clear data unless you are happy to log in again.
6. Free up storage
A stick with less than 500 MB free starts to stutter. Uninstall apps you do not use and delete leftover APK files in Downloader.
7. Change the player's stream format
Many IPTV apps let you choose the stream format in settings. If HLS buffers, try MPEG-TS, or the other way round. Some apps also have a buffer size setting; a larger buffer adds a second of delay but smooths out short drops.
8. Close other heavy traffic
Large downloads, game updates and cloud backups on other devices compete with your stream. Pause them during big live events.
9. Lower the quality for one evening
If a 4K channel stutters, try the FHD or HD version of the same channel. If the HD one plays smoothly, the issue is bandwidth, and steps 1 and 2 are the long-term fix.
10. Tell support exactly what happens
If none of the above helps, message support with the channel name, the device, the time it happened and your speed test result. That lets them check the right server instead of guessing. RX IPTV support is on WhatsApp 24/7.
Quick checklist
- Speed test on the device: 10 / 15 / 25 Mbps for HD / FHD / 4K per screen
- Cable or 5 GHz Wi-Fi
- Restart router and device
- Clear app cache and free storage
- Try another stream format
